Hi, I've got eFibre and the standard modem that eircom give you, but the range on it seems to below average. I was looking for a replacement and was told by an eircom rep that I would need a modem that is VDSL2 and supports vectoring.
Would anybody have any suggestions as to which ones would be best to buy? Price range up to about €100. Thank you.

If its just wifi you want to improve buy a wireless N (802.11N) access point and connect it to the F1000. Wil be far simpler and do exactly what you need at a reduced cost.

I guess if a new modem improves speeds as well, I'll take it.

Your attainable is governed by the attenuation on your line (distance from cabinet), a new modem will not change this or improve speeds. Just disable wireless and add a better wireless access point

Ahh, I see. Would you suggest any modems that fit the description that I have mentioned in the original post?

Draytek make some, but they big money, a better option is to bridge the f1000 modem and add a better wireless router with an Ethernet wan port.

To do that I'd need to run an Ethernet cable through both?

Yes, put the fibre modem in bridge mode and connect it to the wan if an Ethernet router, then setup the Ethernet router with the pppoe details on the wan

Ah, the only problem there is I need it to stretch a fair distance..and get signal upstairs as well. Think it'll be more hassle than it's worth

Why struggle with a single device, look into other methods, cable or use homeplugs to add a second wireless AP on another channel to give full coverage upstairs. Give this new AP the same name and encryption key and your devices will roam.

I've currently got TP-Link 4220 kit and it does the job, but seems to go down every few weeks or so meaning I've to plug it back into the modem, load up the software and put them all onto the same network again. Don't know if that's normal or not so I was looking into alternatives
