Just bought a 2004 Mazda RX-8. Only one key and one separate Visteon 41844 alarm fob that doesn't work. I replaced the cell battery in the key fob but still no luck.

Where can I get a copy of the key?
Where can I get the Visteon remote fob fixed or replaced?

Any ideas of prices? I presume it will be a lot dearer going to a Mazda shop

When you replaced the battery in the alarm fob did a flickering light come on the fob when you pressed the button? It may just need to be reprogrammed.

Regarding a second key, best thing to do is ring around a few lock smiths for prices of a new chipped key that needs to be programmed to your car's ECU, also ring a Mazda dealer for comparison as sometimes the main dealer can be cheaper.

No light at all on the fob after replacing the battery

    Dead alarm fob, probably.

The car has its own alarm though. It should. And if it's driving, the car's key should be happy.

Yeah car has it's own alarm and is driving fine using the car key. However want to get the alarm fob either fixed or replaced and a spare key just in case.
