I'm looking at buying a Audi A3 shortly, 2004 - 2005. I'm not sure if I want to go petrol or diesel, So was wondering if anyone had some feedback on which would be more suited for me. I wouldn't be doing massive miles each week maybe around 300km - 350km. Currently have a Subaru legacy b4 and it's draining my wallet dry though will break my heart to get rid of it. Any feedback be greatly appreciated thanks

Generally in that vintage of A3 the diesels are probably better than the petrol variants. However given the nature of diesel cars expect a 10 year old example to have a fair amount of mileage on it at this stage. Still if you can find a 1.9 TDi with a good service history it would probably be a more reliable bet than any of the petrol models knocking about.

Yeah I was looking at the 1.9TDi, Drove a friends one and was pleasantly surprised how nippy it was. A lot of torque low in the revs.
