E90 Windscreen Washer Reservoir

Hey Folks,

I'm wondering if someone could give me some advice or possibly point me in the right direction of more information.

First off I'm not mechanically minded and have zero tools to work on my car but some jobs are a quick fix and I'm hoping this one is too. Basically there are only squirts of water coming out of the washers on my E90. From what I can find on the net it's quite possible that the reservoir/2 filters for the pumps are blocked by gunk.

The motors seem to work and it does squirt a little. Is it possible to access these filters with the car on the ground? As I mentioned I have no jack or other tools so I'm not sure if it's something I could do at home myself.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think some had an in line filter below the washer jets. I would first try unblock the jets with a pin. If that doesn't work take the pipe off the underside of the jet and see if you have a good flow....

Oh I tried the old pin trick and had no luck so I'll see if I can take the pipe off tomorrow. Thanks.

Yeah it's an easy fix.
Open bonnet and remove the hoses to the jets. On my car I had enough hose to actually just cut away the filters and put hose back. This solution may or may not suits you.

Is bypassing the filters not introducing a future problem of blocked jets. The filters were not put there for the craic.

Yeah the filters performed a function but for my old e36 it was just as good to remove them as to replace them. You might just replace in a new car.
Toss a bottle of mouthwash or a couple cups of white vinegar into the reservoir to kill bacteria/mold.
