    14 Laps = 254.8km

We've seen the lap probably twenty times before, nothing dreadfully steep but the climb really wears you down. Highly technical descent, the best descenders will definitely make themselves known. There isn't really a chance to make up any time gaps before the finish if you're not right at the front for the sprint. Take your pick :)

If it's wet tomorrow the descents could be a little precarious

    EDIT - what time's kick-off?

What time is it likely to finish? Going to try and plan my ride around it tomorrow morning

Will it be on the youtube channel as well?

It'll be live on youtube, but possibly geo-locked since there will be a broadcaster. Don't know if BBC covers Ireland in their judgement. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4HCDs-EYZE

It starts at 10:00 CET, who are 1 hour ahead of us I believe. So according to this schedule, it'll finish at 15:12 at the earliest our time.

Chris Froome should consider wearing a parachute, that last corner onto the dam will be absolutely lethal.

There are 28 climbs, in reasnably quick succession. I dont know who will win nut I am betteing that the winner will have won or podiumed in Liege, Amstel or Lombardy at some stage in their career. Degenkold, Sagan, Kristoff etc that some are speaking of do not have a hope in hell IMHO.

It is a long race that will suit a strong classics rider - the winner will already be a successful classics rider I think, this wont make you.

Of the non Ardennes type riders I would only consider Bonen or Cancellara given their pedigree in riding for 6 hours in crap weather - the only thing is that the climbs are possibly that bit too long and shallow ( not bergs).

Ireland have just three riders. What is the max any country can have in the race and how are countries quotas decided?
    Thanks

Based on UCI country rankings - the better a country performs in UCI events during the qualifying period the more slots they get up to the maximum of 9

After watching for the last 15 mins., I have been able to pick out Dan Martin and Philip Deignan in the peloton, but haven't seen Roche. Anyone know if he's OK?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Deignan at the back, Roche beside Martin. Might be wearing a raincoat.

    Here's a tracker:

Deignan spending a huge amount of time right at the rear. Is going to be able to contribute today?

Saving energy at the moment and happy to let the Polish Team do the work for now, no need to waste energy at this early stage. Hopefully he might come into it on the final laps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,581 ✭✭✭uberwolf

I'd agree wholeheartedly if he were sitting mid bunch. I know from bitter experience that sitting at the back is not the most energy conserving place to stay. Sure we'll see how he goes.

edit: two irish jerseys to the rear that time.
