BA don't fly to Melbourne directly - it will be a codeshare.

They only fly to Sydney these days.

My only advice on this would be to try and get an A380 over there. I think Qantas have more A380's on this route ? You cant beat that new plane smell :)
I have never flown long haul with BA - but Qantas are fairly good.

Have you looked at Emirates or Etihad ? You should be able to do the journey from Dublin with just one stop ? But it does involve an ultra long haul second leg from the UAE to Oz (c. 14 hours)

Definitely check Etihad, I got a surprisingly good price with them and their service/in flight entertainment/comfort was streets ahead of any other airline I've gone on a long flight with before. Even the food was genuinely pretty good (and the mango rice pudding was delish!). They were the cheapest flight for me too, which is why I booked them in the first place.

And no, I don't work for Etihad. :o

Emirates and Etihad are a better travel experience by far IMHO. Plus you don't have to transit in LHR.

Cheapest flight is €771 Euro with Aer Lingus/Malaysia Airlines from Dublin/Amsterdam/Kuala Lumpur/Melbourne

BUT BETTER OPTIONS for €822 Euro and €876 Euro.
