Got a letter in the door.
    114 kph on a 100 kph road.
3 points and an 80 euro fine.
How likely is it going to affect my insurance and by much?

Yes all increased mainly by 1 poit recently.
    5 if go to court.

2 didnt usually make a difference but all depends on insurer.

Depends on the company. I'm with FBD and they said anything over 6 before it makes any difference...which is why I drive with cruise on a lot of the time.

    Roll on September next year.

I was told that anything over 6 and then they charge a premium.
BUT zero or 2 points and they provide a discount. Maybe it's 3 now that speeding has been increased.

Obviously if say it depends on the company's policy.

Shouldn't affect the price for cover much if at all but ultimately it depends on the insurer.

I wonder if that's actually based on statistics that people with excessive penalty points or previous motoring convictions (like driving driving) are causing more accidents and therefore their increased premium is justified, or is it just another excuse from insurers to suck more money out of drivers.

I know many of you are not going to agree with me, because at first it might sound reasonable that people with more penalty points or previous convictions are more likely to cause accident, but I wonder if that's really the case.

Don't have any points myself, touch-wood but is there grace with respect to speed? If you are clocked doing 81-82kph in an 80kph zone by a van or guard, do you get done? I have been told by some that you will get done and others have said that there is a 5 kph allowance. Can someone clarify this.

I bought a car and my insurance was Eur700 or so with no no-claims discount as it was so long since I last drove.
I got a job in which I didn't need my car. 2 years later I took out a policy.. Eur1700 with no no-claims discount (because it was over 2 years since I drove). I've been quoted Eur830 after this "first" year.
I'm not a young driver and it seems to me the insurance company will use any excuse to charge high premiums

There is always confusion over this basicly your car speedo can ver read by up to, repeat up to, 10% it differed from car to car so if your are driving at an indicated 82 then you are probably ok. If the van reads you at 82 though you will be fined.

Back on topic with Aviva there is a 33% discount for no points 17% for 2 points no discount for 6 and after this there is a loading so as said it depends on the company but there will be some variance.

My insurance this year went for 600 to 1300 with Aviva but ended up at 570 with the AA.

Have to send it off today as the car is in the missus name.

Will it start a "new" 28 day period for me or does the 28 days from the day the origional was sent still apply?
