I am wondering what people think is the best small (1L) car to buy. I already have a Yaris and this is the only small car I know. I am going to change the Yaris soon and don't know whether to get another one or a different better small car that also looks decent. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

    What budget? Year?

And why are you thinking of changing the Yaris?

Yaris is a very popular small car. Maybe just upgrade to a newer year?

what's your budget? the yaris is probably the best of the "older" (late 90's, early 00's) 1.0 cars.

don't be afraid to look at 1.1's and 1.2's etc. running costs are very similar.

Thanks - nice to see Toyotafanboi :-) the budget would buy me a one year old Yaris with a trade in and I will have a look at the 1.1 & 1.2 - I didn't even know they existed

The latest Ford Focus comes in a 1.0l - is that too big?

Take a look at a Skoda Citigo, great small cars and hard to better for mpg.

If you're looking at post 2008, then the engine size isn't as relevant for tax.

Renault Clio with the new 0.9 litre engine is supposed to be a little gem.
