Christmas break, somewhere sunny, 2014

Myself and my girlfriend and looking to travel abroad for about 5 nights over the christmas period (including xmas day etc). The options are a city break somewhere in Europe, or else a bit of winter sun.

The issue is that 5 nights might be a bit long in 1 city, but also would anywhere be warm enough for winter sun in December that isn't long haul? Is Gran Canaria decent enough in December? Would it be dead with it being christmas?

    Any help appreciated!

Went to Marbella for a week over Xmas in 2012. Was about 22-24c everyday and places were open everyday - except some pubs shut xmas day but we'd dinner in the hotel where we were renting an apartment.

Nice few people around to have a bit of a buzz but not awash with kids etc., was lovely.
