Fixture list hasn't been announced yet but thought I would get a thread up and running anyway. As winners its hard to see past one of the triumvarate of Ennis (last years champions :) ), Sarsfields or Adare. Cork could be in the mix too if they get their act together. Or is it possible that one of the other clubs like CCYMS, Charleville or Limerick could play the dark horse and spring the shock of all shocks....all will be revealed as the season progresses......

That's the link. Team captains have 48 hours to upload/email the results. I suspect this will be updated by Wednesday the latest.

Does anyone know what the story is with non-ICU registered players competing in round 1 and 2? I'm not going to name names or anything, but I do know of one game point that could change based on ineligible players playing.

Does the MCU check who each person played and if they were current ICU members? or is this up to the team captains before/after the match?

I don't know about the Munster leagues but the Leinster leagues give you until January or February to get players registered before they start deducting points.

It's looks like Div2 will be a bit of a non event this year only five teams have signed up. No Shannon, Adare B or Waterford this year and nothing at all from Tipperary future looks grim for div 2.

Anyone make contact with Paddy Quinlan to see if Waterford were interested?
There is a least two clubs listed form Tipperary anyone contact them?

Dungarvan have pulled out of next Saturdays fixtures things are not looking good. They are not happy at the distance they have to travel for their game.

Why is it that Ennis are able to field 3 teams, yet none of the other clubs can scrape together a 2nd?
Surely there has to be a few more players in Cork and Limerick chomping at the bit to get a game in the leagues?

Money, lack of interest, etc perhaps

Ennis results from Division 1 yesterday

    Cork 3.5- 1.5 Ennis A
    Ennis A 3-2 CCYMS
    Ennis B 2-3 Charleville
    Ennis B 2.5-2.5 Sarsfields.

I have a brief report on Ennis Chess.

I agree with brilliant boys post above re the size of the league, I think the reason that for example a city the size of Cork only has two teams (Cork and CCYMS) is a lack of people willing to get involved in the organisational side of things. It takes a lot of effort to run 1 team in the Munster League never mind 3 and unfortuantely there arent enough people who want to take it on.

I'd imagine the travel is the big problem. Games in Leinster are weekday evenings or a Saturday afternoon whereas the Munster double headers take up nearly a whole Saturday. That must put a good few people off.

The difference in Leinster though Ciaran is nearly all the clubs are based in Dublin which means that it is no problem to play a match after work on a weeknight for example. The Munster League used to do this too but a 5 hour roundtrip to Cork on a midweek night doesnt leave you much time to actually play the game :-)

Ennis results from yesterdays first divisions matches
    Ennis A 4.5-0.5 Charleville
    Sarsfield 3-2 Ennis A
    Cork 5-0 Ennis B
    Ennis B 1-4 CCYMS

Great to see Karl McPhillips getting his FM title.

He will have passed 2300 on the live list. Can he apply for the title straight away?

He'll have to wait til the Munster Leagues and Leinster Leagues are rated I guess. Once its confirmed he reached 2300 he can apply for the title. I suppose he will have to wait til Summer to officially get it.
