Feel like I know the rules, now what/where to read?

Hey guys and gals. So between this forum, investopedia and some online course I have taken I feel like I know the basics of trading. Today I set up one of those demo accounts on Plus500 and had a bit of a fiddle around with it. Seems like a nice interface and I understand everything that's going on (I think).

So my question is, now that I have a grasp of the rules, what do you lot read to get business news and market information? I kind of get the feeling that the business section of the Irish times is not all I need to be reading. Any hints or tips or advice on where a trading noob such as myself can get good market information?

    Hey Donkey,

    Loads of resources out there.

For books start maybe start off with:

    - The Naked Trader (Robbie Burns) series
    - The Intelligent Investor (Benjamin Graham).

There are loads out there and doesn't matter really, these were my 2.

    Websites:

    - Trade2Win
    - ADVFN
    - iii.co.uk

Personally I keep a news feed going in a tab on my screen in work and look about once every 90mins. I don't do FX mainly short to medium term trades.

    Newpapers:

    Daily

    - Business Section or Irish and English Times (online). Not all of it, more of a skim and read more if anything catches the eye

    Weekend:

    - FT Weekender. I like to read it anyway so not a struggle

the above may be totally irrelevant for Scalpers/Day Traders and everybody uses different things, so the above may not be right for what you want to trade.

    Thanks

Just a small word of warning!

Read everything with a pinch of salt and consider the intention of the article. If you believe there intention ,is to make you the investor rich, you wont last long! It is normally, in my opinion, a cry for support or to scare off investors before a consolidation!

    Good Luck

I only trade FTSE based companies ,The Investors chronicle online subscription is a very good place to start if your thinking about trading FTSE based companies ,with great analysis and investment ideas.
The Motly Fool also offer good insights and ideas.
Both of these are paid subscriptions, but both are well worth the few quid that they charge.
