Give me an example of a victimless crime ?

A friend  refuses to install iTunes on their laptop due to a hatred of all things Apple, fair enough.
The same friend does however want a copy of the free U2 album that's currently free to Apple subscribers.
This person has gone to torrents to illegally download a copy of the same.
Their validation is that it's a "victimless crime", do you agree with their assessment or are Apple the victims here as you have not added yourself a subscriber.

Can anyone give me a perfect example of a victimless crime ?
Perhaps breaking a red light at 4 in the morning or stealing a loaf of out of date bread from a bin in Tescos.

Consentual sex between two males, or two 15 year old teenagers.

Pirating music. The profits go to large corporations who have no right to exist in today's market. If you want to support a band see them live instead of supporting a middle man.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Buying the DVD of a movie or TV show and then downloading a torrent for the same movie or tv show.

Technically a crime but I have already paid for it so who is the victim?

Yup, buy your ticket from Ticketmaster to a show put on by MCD, Aiken Promotions or some other bloated promoter. You know, cut out the middle man!

Stealing a loaf of out of date bread from a bin in Tescos.

Tesco could argue that they are the victims there as you're not going to buy bread from them if you can steal it from their bin.

Conspiracy to murder is a crime, yet technically has no victim (if the intended target never finds out). Doesn't make it less of a crime though.

What about music from bands on small indie labels?

The crime you get away with. E.g. voyeurism - if the victim never finds out, are they still a victim?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Plenty of treaties in place banning the testing of nuclear weapons.
    irish_goat wrote: »

These treaties deal with the placement of nuclear weapons in space. It would be pretty difficult to classify a nuclear explosive launched to divert the course of a comet as a weapon, for example, since its express purpose would be the exact opposite of a weapon.

Or the nuclear explosion releases three dangerous alien criminals from a two-dimensional glass prison, and they go on to conduct a worldwide reign of terror.

I'd make an exception for them but the likes of Sony, EMI, etc.. need to die and die soon.

Most of the "indie" labels are owned by the majors, and there's only three: Sony, Universal, and Warners.

Without the funding and distribution network of those labels, the indie ones wouldn't exist. There's a few truely indie labels around, but not many.

That's like saying you're allowed to carry a 12" blade around in public as long it's only used to butter toast, so not a weapon.

It's not really, that analogy doesn't work at all. Comet and asteroid impacts are a legitimate risk to life on Earth and, as I have no doubt you are aware, have caused multiple mass extinction events in the past.

A nuclear explosion in close proximity to divert the course of such a body is one of the very few solutions that would be technologically feasible on a reasonable timescale at the moment.

A better analogy would be that it's like using a blade to cut out a tumor, so it's not a weapon.
