Different BTEA rate from last year

    Hey,

I just started my 3rd year of college, I was getting €188 a week in first and second year, but I just noticed this year I have been reduced to €160 a week. I'm 24 years old and aware that there is an age related maximum you can get, but I thought that was for new applicants only, and because I have been on it the last 2 years I should continue on the same rate until I graduate.

Has it changed for everyone or could they have made a mistake with processing my payment? It says on the citizens information website that current claimants will continue to get €188 regardless of the budget cuts.

I was really depending on the €188 this year, any help would be great.

    Thanks, E.

I dont think it should have changed.

Ring the Carrick On Shannin office to query it.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Thanks Joeytheparrot, rang them there and the woman said I should be getting €188 alright. Had a bit of a job getting through to my local social welfare office but they just called me back and I'll be getting €188 from now on.

    Crisis averted, thanks again!

Until they cant answer your questions. Then they just stop communicating. Very disappointed with them.
