Car Hire Spain. Automatic

    So, I visit Spain once, or twice a year, visiting family. A car for a week usually costs me around €40 plus fuel costs. This time, I am injured (can't press clutch, as left leg is weakened) and would only be able to drive an automatic. However, instead of €30 on ArgusCarHire, which I usually use, the price jumps to €170 for an automatic. This is just too much a hike for me to swallow. Any suggestions? I fly into Alicante and its toward the end of October.

    Some providers offer a green option of a hybrid car, all hybrid cars that I know of are all automatic, this may perhaps be a way around it?

    Seems to be a premium for an auto transmission ok, a quick look on rentalcars.com shows a Ford Focus or similar auto, last week in Oct for €112, although it's with Goldcar which doesnt always get great reviews, shop around I guess

    From £24.66 per week upwards on travelsupermarket.com

    Cheapest I already found on rentalcars is €160 for the 6 days on a 508. Can get slightly cheaper outside airport, but I hate those collection places, where they do a shuttle bus to their site.

    Looks like the old man will be driving instead. I refuse to pay that much extra for an autobox.
