Can't seem to find info on the site or boards.
I want to get a luas from the point to Heuston but want to stop in abbey st for a few mins en route. (Get off & get luas leaving next)

Is there a certain time from destination a-b that I have to tag on/off.

Will I be charged for another journey?

Am I better off buying a ticket one way?

If you are using single tickets these are counted as two trips and you should tag off and then back on again, you will be charged twice.

Single and Return Tickets don’t require any Photo Identity Card. There is no student fare applicable for Single and Return tickets. Single tickets are valid 90 mins from time of issue, for one trip only. No breaks in journey are permitted. - See more at: http://www.luas.ie/single-and-return-tickets.html#sthash.pXbaC7DP.dpuf

However,if you are using a Leapcard and your two journey legs can be completed within the 90 min single journey validity then it is difficult to see any way to enforce the rule.

You will still be in possession of a valid Leap transaction for a single journey,as the system does not identify the individual Tram.

Essentially you would not tag off at Abbey St on the return leg,nor would you tag on for part 2 of that leg, your only tagging being ON at The Point and OFF at Heuston...90 min Time frame allowing.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

    interesting.

    How about going opposite directions.

For example if I decide to nip up to Smithfield from Busaras at lunchtime, transact some business and return to Busaras with a tag on and tag off at Busaras only how would that work??

I'm thinking that as you Tag On at Busaras and Tag OFF at the same stop, you'll be charged two Maximum Fares ?

    Definitely one for experimentation :p

If you are ticket checked on your return leg, you won't have a valid 'ticket' (tagged on at Busaras but heading towards Busaras) and will be fined.

I found this by accident (with the older smartcard), you can tag on and off at the same stop as long as you use different validators. I assume Leap will be the same and the minimum fare charged...
