Consumer rights following temporary crown breakage after root canal treatment?

    Hi All,

I recently had a root canal procedure. However, less than one week after the procedure, a large part of the temporary crown fell off. When I went back to the endodontist he said that I would have to go back to my own dentist to have the temporary crown replaced as his practice didn't have the facility for temporary crowns (even though he'd already put one on my tooth). I was really surprised by this treatment, especially after paying €900; I would have thought that he would replace the crown since it had fallen out so quickly after the procedure. Right now, I cannot afford to go to my dentist and pay an additional few hundred for a temporary crown.

I would be grateful for advice/feedback on the above.

This is what I previously paid for a temporary crown.

was that as part of an overall plan to have a permanent crown?
i just find that bizarre. when i'm doing crowns, the temporary crowns are not an extra cost.

Sounds like a composite "crown" that was put on as a temporary measure while pt was having root canal done/waiting to have permanent ceramic crown done, possibly a remaining buccal or palatal/lingual wall has broken off.

OP the €900 paid to the Endodontist was for the root canal and possibly placement of a post in the canal, the crown is a cosmetic treatment provided by your general dentist, you need to go back there.
