2010 passat 2.0 tdi leather seats

Are the leather seats in 2010 era Irish passats different to the UK ones?

I was looking at different photos of uk versus irish ones for 2010 and the ones in the Irish car look more solid and has a sport/bucket seat look about it.

Are both seats just as comfortable? Are the UK ones leatherette?

There seems to be so few Irish ones with leather seats. Is there a particular trim level I should look out for in the Irish ones that would have leather seats or could leather seats be an optional extra in any trim level?

    Thanks

A proper Irish model came with Sports seats on highlines and Leather if it was ticked, UK models came with a the regular seats but were leather instead of cloth. Big, big difference!

The UK Highlines in 2010 had the standard Comfortline Seats, with Leather retro fitted (never a factory option anywhere to get leather on those seats). No matter how well Leather was fitted to Comfortline seats, it looks rubbish.

Could never get really comfortable in Comfortline seats, but the Highline (Sports) seats are very comfortable - probably best seats in that class of vehicle across all manufacturers.

Issue is going to be finding a 2010 Irish Highline - there's not that many 2010 Irish Passat's full stop as it was the run out of the B6 version and was in very short supply, but I'd gladly pay more for the Sports seats than the normal ones with aftermarket leather.

Thanks for that lads, when say retro fitted, does that mean the owner went to an independent person to get leathers put on?

Leather became standard equipment on the UK Highline model, so VW UK would have had it fitted to cars after they came in. Means that the seats weren't originally like that (would have been the waffle cloth stuff like the Comfortline) then someone took that off and fitted leather covers.

We had leather fitted to a Comfortline in 09. Same guy we use for quite a few cars to have leather retro fitted, and everything else looks fantastic and hard to tell whether it's factory or retro, but the Comfortline Seats don't take the leather well at all, due to the design, and those seats just looked a bit rubbish.

Had an Irish 2008 highline and the standard sports leather seats were seriously comfortable.Ideal for long haul driving.
