I didn't get into the guards and was gutted. Any Garda I talk to tells me not to be disappointed. Why do so many of them hate their jobs?

And no I don't think they are just saying it to be nice.

To be fair I've heard the same from a lot of guards aswell...I think the recruitment freeze meant a lot of them were stuck in certain positions with no option to move up in their career but things should start to change for them now

All the pay cuts and now having to work x amount of days for nothing under Harrington Road agreement hasn't helped morale.

Plus the fact they put thousand of man hours into trying to secure convictions to put scum bags into jail, only for a doddery old man (the judge) to throw it all out because some cop forgot to put i before e except after c on the charge sheet.....or something

Well I would never underestimate proper spelling and grammar. Note mistake in thread title and OP failing to progress to Templemore.

They may have a certain amount of confidence in the entrance procedures, such that they know if you didn't get past them, then you probably wouldn't have had a good time as a member and you're better off knowing that now than five years into it.

You deserve a star for your good spelling.

Ultimately we all get what we deserve. I have found understanding the difference between 'Your' and 'You're' is the cornerstone to any career.

If that's what you think is the cornerstone to any good career then god help you. Keep learning your spellings every night before you go to bed in Templemore. It will really stand to you some Saturday night when your on duty in Dublin city center.

PS: If you have a problem with a big word then break it up into smaller parts.

We are in Ireland not the USA so 'centre' is spelt centre not 'center'.
