Alternative to shares for small investment?

    Hi all,

I was hoping to invest a couple hundred in shares however, between commissions and quarterly fees I don't think this is a viable option with such a small investment. I was hoping to split my investment between 2-3 shares for a longish period of time. Anyone can suggest the cheapest broker(online or otherwise) for doing something like that?

Failing that, I'd like to invest in ETF's or something like the Irish Life funds. Anyone have any experience with these and where did you purchase and why?

    Thanks
