Hi guys, currently running alex r450 rims and shimano hubs and feel like a bit of a change really. I dont race and just cycle for fitness with a mixture of flat and hills. Does anyone have any suggestions for a wheel upgrade ? id probably spend up to around 500 max for new or a decent set second hand. I like the idea of going carbon but i feel a pair of good quality alu wheels would do me just fine.

    All suggestions welcome.

Campag eurus or shamal secondgandv...zondas new
Fulcrum 3's new or zeros secondhand...

    Avoid secondhand mavics....
Mavics good wheels but only if owned from new and minded/serviced by yourself...
They need the cotton wool treatment where campag/fulcrum don't.
Just my opinion ....others will differ

Whatever wheels don't sell with this bike.

Decent price when compared to crc. Are Mavics a high maintenance wheel as suggested above ?

Also my bikes an 8 speed.

My experience of wheels is pretty limited to entry level, Only ever had mavic Askiums and keeping them true was a challenge. Campag khasmins (sp?) and shimano r501 I've found to be bomb proof

What are peoples experiences with Shimano Ultegra 6800's ? reviews on crc seem positive

Can't go wrong with Campagnolo Zondas... always seem to be great deals online, too. They look great, are light and strong, and seem to roll forever...

I agree with this - a great wheel for the money. I'm not sure if an 8 speed cassette will be compatible with the new freehub though as these now take up to 11 speed?

Says on crc that they are compatible with 8 speed hubs but they do not supply the hub spacers for 8 speed.
