Leaving country before JBA interview

I applied for JBA almost 4 weeks ago. I have my interview this Monday, I think to means test me and check my information and attempts to find work. I haven't been given a payment yet.

Today I got offered a job abroad, starting next Thursday, which I intend to take.

My question is, obviously I should tell the SWO tomorrow, but will I still get paid for the 3 or 4 weeks I have been waiting to be processed?

Also, if I left the country before my interview, am I less likely to be paid? In other words, would I be better advised to fly out on Tuesday rather than the Sunday or Monday before?

If you go to the interview you should get payed for the weeks you were unemployed if they approve your claim. Not attending the dept might just close the claim.
So yes you may be better of attending the interview, tell them that you are starting a new job on Thursday.
Sign off on-line on Wednesday or whatever day you leave the country.

Thanks for the response. I am planning on taking that advice, but I feel like it won't work out because I won't be in the country to collect my payment in the post office. Do they ever make alternative arrangements, for example in a case like this?

When you sign off you will be asked where do you want any payments due sent to,give them an address and the cheque will be sent there.

Make sure you bring as much documentation as possible (including proof of job offer abroad) with you to the interview that will prove your identity, address & means (passport, birth cert, driver's licence, social/public services card, bank statements, rent/lease agreements, utility bills, P45/previous P60's - whatever you can think of. You want to make sure that you walk out of there leaving them requiring no further details considering it will be more difficult for you to supply anything further to them when you leave the country.
