I'm currently separated with 4 children and I get the OPFP plus rent allowance. I'm seeing someone else and we're expecting a baby in November, we're thinking about moving in together after the baby is born.
He gets jsa and currently lives in Mayo and is also separated with 4 children, what I'd like to know is what way would the benefits work if we did move in together?
    Any info appreciated.

    You would lose money.

An extra 10 Euro in rent a week for a start also the maximum rent allowance rates advertised seem to be for a maximum of three children and you need a place for nine children. You might be overcrowded in any property that you can afford.

Also one of you would become a "Qualified Adult" instead of having their own allowance, so reduction of about 60 Euro a week there as well.

Thanks for that. His children won't be living with us, they'd just be here 1 night every 2nd weekend, I currently receive less than 1/3 of my rent in the allowance as my maintenance is counted as income.
The house i'm currently renting is being sold and I have a move out date of 22nd of december, so it makes more sense to pay just one rent and save on fuel visiting each other...

Well yes it seems to make sense but he might lose his rent allowance if you move in with him because your joint income might be to high.

Best would be to visit your CWO in your health centre and get some advice on it

    They are all listed here...
