Can Plastic Be Engraved?

    I bought this compass for a friend, and am hoping to get a short message engraved onto plastic piece, outlined in red. It's only 5 words on to an area of 4.5cm x 1.8, a small job. It is quite a hard plastic, I'm wondering if it can be engraved at the shop which does dog tags, key cutting etc.

    Tl;dr: Can plastic be engraved..?

    Yes it can. depending on the plastic and the tool used it might have to be done slowly to avoid melting the plastic. I would bring it to a trophy shop- a lot of their brass placques etc are actually coloured plastic
