    Hi all

Im currently ebf my four month old and intend to do this until she is six months. I havent had my period yet and she still feeds around the clock.

Our hope would be to try for another when dd is six months old. if age was on my side i would leave it longer but it isnt.

It took 7 months with one mc to concieve dd.

My question is did it take long for anyone in the same situation to concieve again? Any tips on increasing my chances? Id like to bf dd up to the six month mark and then cut down rather than cutting out wheb she is on solids but maybe i should just cut out the bf all together to increase fertility after tge 6 months ?

Any views or advice genuinely appreciated

Prolactin is the hormone that increases in pregnancy and post partum to create breast milk. If you supplement with formula, or when baby drops feeds during weaning, the levels can drop.

When the levels are constantly high, it can (not always but *usually*) supresses ovulation. But levels can fluctuate during the day to day so it should never be assumed that you cant get pregnant while breastfeeding.

Your options would be either to wean early so the baby might reduce milk feeds, which they dont really like to recommend, introduce a bottle or two supplementing with formula, but if you want to stay exclusively breast milk thats not ideal, or wait another two months until the baby is on solids.

Its very individual. I got pregnant when the baby was 6.5 months and that was when he took to solids, got a formula bottle at bedtime (from 3 months). Periods had returned around the 4 month mark when he began to have a bit more of a stretch between feeds. It was a big surprise as we'd had fertility issues beforehand.
