Used Car 2011 - Very High Mileage

Am looking to buy shortly and am strongly considering buying a Skoda Superb Estate. I'd really like to buy the 2 litre diesel, either 140 or 170 bhp.

There's a 2011 model available, really high spec, 170 bhp, looks in perfect nick and I liked it on test drive (but i'm not knowledgeable on cars).

The big issue with it is that for a 2011 car, the mileage seems huge (108,000 miles).

Now, I would definitely be getting my mechanic to do a thorough check on it before making an offer - but I'm wondering am I crazy to even be thinking about spending a large amount of cash (dealer asking €18950) given the huge mileage. Should I even be spending the money on getting it checked out?

It has full service history from Skoda dealer, new timing belt, things like that... it's a UK import.

    Any thoughts appreciated!

Normally miles wouldn't bother me, but with a car that new, you're alreadt paying a premium for the reg number. Big miles on a newish car would be a concern. Do you expect to put a lot more miles on it? How does it compare to other cars of a similar age?

    Any interest in a estate?

True, but 15k less than the one you were looking at, and a few grand in the difference. Try asking on the briskoda site. Should be some people with good experience of high milers there.

Belt done, good. Service history, good. UK miles, probably good. Suspension probably hasn't had to do much work. Transmission, i'd be thinking about clutches and flywheel. *

*note - I don't know anything about cars, but what's broken on my own on occasion! :D

buying uk cars worries me as rust is a big issue and as said clutch and flywheel, did one today as dual mass flywheel was noisy and that was a 2008 model and 109th km.

I bought a 2010 saloon version with 132,000 km for €13000 in June from a main dealer, had it checked out first, its as sweet as a nut, no complaints yet with a further 15,000km clocked since. Fantastic car and v. Good fuel economy, marginally over 60mpg.
