The car starts shaking intermittently. I found the rad fan not running. I put a good fuse in its old fuse location and no change. New fan now? Or any other diagnostic ideas.

What car? Automatic? Some cars will have an option to check the fan by, for instance, connecting two wires.

Just thinking there that fan only should come on when engine over heated, its not, so prob not my issue. I will have to check out bleeding the coolant.

Do you have heat inside the car? Thermostat could have failed open and is not letting the engine get hot enough to make fan kick in. Generally a quick fix

The engine temp indicator looks accurate and moves appropriately.

Why do you think that the car shaking is related to the fan not spinning?

Are there any symptoms of overheating?

    When does the car shake?

I ruled out the fan now, as it only comes on if it got overheated.
    Temperature seems about mid level.
Car gurgle when starting before settling to normal (diesel engine)
Car and the dash starts shaking in idle (traffic lights) intermittently.
Drive seems alot rougher, not as smooth.

If your radiator fan isn't working, then it's almost certainly the thermo switch is the source of the problem. This tiny switch usually if found in your cars radiator and turns on the radiator cooling fan once the coolant temp exceeds ninety degrees. On some cars such as Honda's the thermo switch is located on the thermostat housing..

Trace the wires from the radiator fan to a multi- plug on the radiator...

The fan will normally kick on when you are sitting in traffic, although if the thermo switch is faulty, your engine coolant could begin to boil over causing your cars head gasket to blow...This is a a hugely expensive repair!
