H bar

I have tried all my local hardware stores looking to source H bar to sort out a railing but no joy. Can anyone give me an idea of where to go, I'm in north Kerry but am in Limerick pretty often. See pics of my problem. Thanks

That is the smallest "RSJ" profile available, looks like a 76x 51mm, superceded now so would be hard to get I'd imagine unless you could source some from a scrap merchant. You could get a metal fabricator to make up something similar from a small RSJ, cut down the web and top flange, weld cut down flange back on or smae could be done with a T angle perhaps?

Wont be able to go to that extreme as funds and ability wont allow. I need to replace all the uprights about 20 in total and welding is really not an option for me. I was considering (briefly) using small box. Whats there has been up since 1952. I don't have to match whats there as they are all going so if any one has any ideas shout away I would really appreciate it.

How about 2 small channel iron profiles welded back to back?

Metal fabricator could make simple nice upright with a 1" hole in top ( or more ) and flat base plate for bolting down.

Fit lengths of 3/4" gunbarell iron plumbing pipe through holes, straight sockets if you need to join it.

Consider galvanized.

Thanks Sean but cant afford to go down the welding road.
Scudo your gunbarrell idea has me thinking, I think a visit to the local hardware on Mon is on.

Pipe also cheaply available in galvanized.

You can hire pipe cutters , tripod bench and stocks and dies for threading the pipe aswell , no need to buy them
