So my dentist sent me to an endodontist to get a root canal. i went today and got it done but now, a good 9 hours later, im in pain.

i know it's not normal to feel 100% the same day ..but it's not your typical ' just had a drill in my mouth' dentist pain ; it's the same pain that was there before i got the procedure - the reason i went to get the root canal to begin with. taking pain killers but it's not the pain so much that bothers me as much as the thought that i went thru this for nothing.

Root canal involves using sterilising solutions, and instrumentation which vibrates the tooth. Both of these can cause a little irritation in the tissues around the tooth leading to some pain for a while afterwards. I'm a dentist, I had a root canal done on one of my lower back teeth a few years ago by an Endodontist, I couldn't bite on it for two days but it settled down and not a bit if bother since.
