Never seen or heard of they live but not quite sure whether you mean Dystopian: Minority Report Fiction: Manchuriuan Candidate, Pelican Brief Faction: Blood diamond, Fact-based: JFK , Charlie Wilson's War or all of the above?

So I'll just go for Wag The Dog.

This is a jsut radio show which is available on the BBC Radio 4 website and Itunes which investigate older mysteries which people probably haven't heard of before, it's really good.

Actually, I can swing this round to being back on topic. Anyone seen the film The Bank Job with the bold bloke out of Lock, Stock and the rest of the Guy Ritchie films?

It's based on an actual London bank robbery:
    The Bank Job

A semi-fictional version of the robbery is the subject of the film The Bank Job (2008), which explores another popular theory of the crime that argues the robbery was either set up by, or later covered up by, MI5 to secure sexually compromising photographs of Princess Margaret which were being kept in a deposit box at the bank by known radical Michael X. While this theory has usually been considered yet another urban myth, there have been some individuals, including George McIndoe, an advisor to the film who claimed to have knowledge of the actual robbery,[13] purporting that this was indeed the real motivation for the robbery.

It was a recent episode of the radio show I mentioned:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b049p9yp
    The Baker Street Bank Robbery

    Series 7 Episode 2 of 4

Or that one with Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford about the water gate scandal?

    That should read "pest control".

All the President's Men. Excellent film, about an actual conspiracy. You know, one that can be verified by reputable witnesses; and that doesn't need links to batshit insane youtube videos to make it's point.

The very best CT film of all time has to be "The Parallax view".

    Political assassination
    Shadowy sinister organisation
    Mind control.

    It's got everything.

Oliver Stone's JFK is an enjoyable load of claptrap.

Blow Out (1981) - Sound recordist records a car crash that turns out to be murder.

Would also say Jacob's Ladder (1990) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962 - There's a 2004 one, but the original is better IMO).

JFK (1991) too. Edit: Someone mentioned this while I was formulating my post :(
    Ah well.

I watched Snowpiercer the other day and it had a kind of a conspiracy theory bent to it.

In the opening the set up is that the World governments are going to solve global warming by geo-engineering the planet and spraying a chemical into the atmosphere. They show this by showing a few airplanes flying overhead spreading chemtrails.
It of course goes horribly wrong.

Looking forward to this , got the Host on Bluray last week. Hope to watch it soon. Tend to watch a lot of Asian cinema but have yet to see any of his films.

Snowpiercer is a really interesting film that gets a bit silly at the end. Enjoyable though, especially Tilda Swinton who is unrecognisable. Not sure i would call it a CT film.

Claptrap? The film by it's nature is meant to be conjecture... Conjecture is all that Stone can offer in opposition to the Warren Commission / Magic Bullet / Oswald Expert Marksman story that is put forward by the Government. There's a lot of his hypotheses that are just as unbelievable as some of those put forward by the Warren Commissions, but it's one of those situations where you just have to make up your mind as to what you think happened....

And on that topic.. I came across this movie about the JFK assassination, possibly the first movie about the subject.. This was made in 1973, two years before the Zapruder footage was made public...

Agreed here. It's one of the greatest movies of all time in my view, of any genre.

conspircy therist films. i think, probly alien by scott ridly becuse he didn't want pepel to beleeve in the big bang thery which trumps all that nonsence in bible.

big bang is syentific fact, baked up by syentists.

    Give me a chance.

I loved Capricorn One even though it was stupid, it was nice to fantasize about some fake mars landing.

There is a massive conspiracy in Alien and Aliens anyway regarding the weyland yutani corporation and their motives for sending the Nostromo crew to the derelict, and again in the sequel when Paul Reiser's character (Burke) sends Ripley and the colonial marines back to LV426 .

Works out a lot better in the first film though.

Global conspiracy to convince people using the film Prometheus we were made by some 8 foot tall "engineers" and Ridley Scott hasn't decided what for yet but we can presume he'll explain in his sequel...

Makes more sense than big bang i suppose which is current dogma among non believers.

I have a question for Atheists, why does an Earthworm compost? How does it know? How does it know? ....eh?

I would disagree since it doesn't discuss the Israeli connection with Dimona Nuclear site.

Contextualize the fact his brother's shooter was a Palestinian who to this day denies voluntarily shooting Bobby Kennedy.

No film touches on the fact when JFK demanded Israel cease it's construction of Nuclear weapons, he and his brother were assassinated for that very demand.

    Yes sir.

Jack Ruby (Rubenstein) was quoted as confessing to his Rabbi he did it for the Homeland.
We tend to forget the reality when it comes to history.

The reality is that there is no doubt Lee Harvey Oswald shot Kennedy, and little room for doubt that he did it alone.

    heh, magic bullet believer eh?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 715 ✭✭✭Cianmcliam

    heh, magic bullet believer eh?

There's no magic bullet theory, there's a single bullet theory that conspiracy believers have to deny by lying or being mistaken about.

JFK is an excellent example of the conspiracy deception, putting JFK and Connolly sitting right in front of each other in a standard car seating plan. Connolly was below and to Kennedy's left and his body was turned when the bullet struck. The 'bullet hanging in mid air' is due to poor interpretation of the Zapruder film, under close scrutiny the bullet blows out Connolly's jacket just after it hit Kennedy.

really is the wrong thread for this unless we're discussing the Oliver stone film?

Yes, the film has that inexcusable sequence on the 'magic bullet' as if this had not been settled years ago. Stone had the two guys in the demo sitting one in front of the other at the same height and both facing forward. That enables him to swing the yardstick around leading viewers under the impression that the Warren commission actually believed this is what the bullet did. There is an undeniable trajectory through Kennedy's throat, down into Connolly's back and into his wrist then impacting his thigh. No magic just physics.

This can be explained by the fact that JFK was produced by Arnon Milchan - An admitted Israeli spy.

It''s a bit odd. I like Stone, he's got balls and he seems honest. The documentary series he did with some Professor on hidden history was excellent.
