    Hi,

I work full time in a customer service role in a call center. I got the job after college as I had a loan to pay back and couldn't find anything in the area I studied due to the recession and lack of experience. The money isn't bad but the job sometimes is unbearable and the atmosphere is tough sometimes between staff and management.

I got an job offer email yesterday about a trainee position in an organisation related to what I studied and untimely the area and organisation I wish to pursue a career in. Its a casual contract and its a job I'd love to do. The only thing is that I am leaving a permanent full time job for a gamble. There is no guarantee I will get anything full time from it. I lack experience in the area and this would hopefully help get me a job in the future. If I take I would have to move down the country to the family home and commute to Dublin as I wouldn't be able to afford to live here if I was only getting a few hours a week. My gut is telling me to quit my job and go with it and to be as flexible in terms of availability but I still have my doubts. I'm 22 and the only expense I have in my mobile and car. What should I do?

Can you talk to your manager about the possibility of returning if the new job doesn't work out?

I think this is one of those "it's better to regret something you have done, than regret something you haven't done" moments.

    Good luck.

Shame you probably dont have savings to support yourself through this period... I would be reluctant myself.

I'm 24, I got a job like yours- permanent in a call centre type place. I've been here seven years.

You are 22 and in a good position to take on this training. I think it will help you in the future and you never know -if you show promise what may happen from it.

You may have to sacrifice for a while but it could pay off long term.

I guess it depends on how many hours you will get.... did they give you any idea?

Is it possible that you could try find a second evening job to keep you ticking over?

Alternatively, if you decide not to take it... you could do an evening course... optimum time because in the job your in now you don't have to bring home with you and on your CV it will show that your trying to keep yourself busy, educated and you want to upskill. Thats what I did anyway and it worked out for me... You could hold out then for a more permanent role to come up.

Just keep lashing out the CV's. I wouldn't have left my permanent job for a temp or casual contract out of fear, so it's a daring decision.

If you take it - best of luck, If you don't - get yourself into an evening course (even a cheapo one) just to keep yourself busy
