THe notices for the various Cycling Ireland Commissions are now being posted on CI website.. There doesn't seem to be any uniformity in the AGM notices and certainly in the degree of openness and transparency there are some worrying signs.

THe paralalympic commission a doesn't seem to be very encouraging to debate or questions at all which is surprising and worrying in this day and age . notice "not open to Interpretation" comment
    8.30pm

Compare that to the womens commission notice.. Some difference in Tone isn't there.

Women’s bike racing in Ireland is growing - and we want you to help make it even bigger!

2014 has been a phenomenal year for women’s cycling. This year saw the launch of La Course, a one day race on the final day of the Tour de France. The FriendsLife Women’s Tour stage race brought the best international and domestic racers to the roads of Britain. Here at home, we had an increased number National League races, as well as record participation in Rás na mBan stage race. Across the country, local TT, club and racing leagues have sprung up to introduce even more women to road racing.

These international, national and local events don’t just happen - they need the support of the cycling community to make them a reality! The Women’s Commission invites you to the Women’s Cycling AGM & Open Forum on Saturday, September 27th, the goal of the which is to get input and feedback on how to grow and develop women’s racing in 2015 and beyond.

The meeting will include a review of the year’s activities, feedback on what went well and what could be improved, and outline plans for women’s racing in Ireland next year. We invite women and men from across the country who are interested in women’s racing to attend and bring their ideas and input, regardless of how long you’ve been involved in racing. We especially welcome parents and junior riders to attend and help shape the future of women’s racing in Ireland.

    The details are:

Venue: Maldron Hotel, Tallaght, Dublin (from the N7, take the Citywest exit to avoid Newlands Cross) http://www.maldronhoteltallaght.com

    Date: Saturday, September 27th 2014

    Time: 11am-1pm

    Refreshments will be served.

Please indicate your attendance here, and spread the word to your clubs and friends who might be interested in attending.

    Thanks!

The womens commission do amazing work but they could really do with more help for new (or old) blood.

At least the Paracycling Commission, along with the Womens and Track Commisssions are making the effort. Along with Cycling Leinster, Ulster and Munster they already have AGMs in the Calendar.

Hopefully the others will follow, but IIRC the Road Commission has made little if any effort to report back to the AGM in the past couple of years. It will be a very poor show if they cannot provide a full report this time and arguably if the Road Commission is so ineffective it either needs a complete overhaul or closing down.

Beasty I absolutely agree with you that some of the commissions are doing great work. but as a person who seems to have a great grasp of the importance of governance and transparency does that section of the CI Paralympic AGM notice about the reports not being open to interpretation not concern you?
If followed through as worded it will most likely limit openness and transparency.
I have asked a number of none cycling people their opinion on that section and they were generally shocked and couldn't believe that someone would put that into the notice.

I don't think the Road commission exists any more its not in the CI calendar anyway.. I think it went when the High Performance Development programme was put in Place in 2011-2012

I'll try and get back later on the "not open to interpretation" point (as I'm currently travelling with limited access). I've only ever attended a track commission AGM (other than CI ones) where discussion was very open. Hence I cannot comment with experience about what actually goes on at the Paracycling one. Sometimes these things are added for clarity because of issues over what actually has gone on on prior occasions. Sometimes too much can be read into the intentions behind such comments. As I say though I'll give it a bit more thought and try to revert later
