Cycled the 160Km on this last year. Ticked ALL the boxes on a spectacularly fine day!! Looks like a good chance of a repeat on Saturday - can't wait!

Well, this was a nice tough, fast sportive! Or was it a race, not quite sure.

Some numbers from the first 100k (Garmin battery ran out, so nothing for the last 50k, but it didn't get slower):

Speed = 33.6kph (including 1035m of climbing apparently by then, including Conor Pass)
    Normalised power = 273W
    Peak 30 min power = 296W
    Peak 20 min power = 325W

I was in or around the lead group all day, although certainly not pushing the pace, more like sitting in!

When you get to the website chaingangsportives com they are still referring to the 2014 event, is this just a typo?

I don't think the website has been updated yet. Route details are the same as last year as far as I know

Is the 160km route very much only recommended for the experienced cyclist only?

What kind of training would you need to be doing and are the climbs very difficult on this challenge? Thanks

It all depends on your level of fitness Brian. It's not the easiest 160K in the country but the route is spectacular.

The biggest climb on the day is the Conor Pass . That's before the food stop in Dingle so a good chance to regroup again if you have lost touch.

You can always opt to do the shorter route back home from Dingle again (110K option) and not go around Slea Head depending on how you are feeling.
