Hope I am in the right forum.
Have a credit card machine and am paying around 4% on transactions.
Can anybody advise who offers the best rates?
Don't want a machine where I have to be paying a monthly rental, if possible.

Just saw a similar post in this forum.
Just to add that I am with Elavon with a handheld terminal or browser option.
Got a call a couple of weeks ago from a company who arranged an appointment, offering rates under 2%. They did not turn up so no idea how reliable they are, after a no show !

I don't use the Machine but use the online portal and pay under 2%... It seems at 4% someone is taking you for a ride!

Also Im with Elavon. You should contact them to get a better rate!

Made contact with Elavon and got summary of fees.
    2.95% on credit cards
    48c on debit cards.
Seem to be charged €10 for hardware rental even though I thought I had changed to a small hand held Posmate terminal, without any monthly fee.
Will have to wait until tomorrow to speak to somebody.

    Your being shafted

    I pay :

    .69% for standard Visa cards
    .93% for Mastercards
12c per transaction for Visa Debit > €15
    And 7.8c per transaction < €15

Streamline is the Merchant via Ulster bank

Are you paying any rental fees? Do those rates depend on a minimum volume?

Those are savage rates. Are you a convenience shop or something?

rates will depend on your volume. just like anything else.

If you card turnover is €1m + you will get rates at or below 1%. A little higher for corporate cards.

If your turnover is under 100k, then about 2% will be best rate.
