Warm settled weather - New growth on trees

With the pleasant weather of late which is to continue into next week with only some (well needed) showers expected over the coming days, is it possible that certain varieties of trees whos leaves were turning brown will stop this process? In addition, would trees that had stopped their active growth for the season and were just beginning to show signs of turning brown begin to grow a bit for the next week or so? I say this because my Norwegian maple had stopped growing in late August but new growth has started again in the past few weeks.
