I thought booking earlier was cheapest?

    Hi, I'm a bit confused.

I always thought the earlier you book a holiday the cheaper it is. (Not always, but mostly).

I'm looking at Budget Travel and lowcostholidays.ie websites at booking Spain for next June 2015 and I'm being quoted big money for the package deal I require.

It's the same package deal I've had for the past three years and normally, if I book this far in advance, it'd be a lot cheaper.

Do you think the price is likely to fall between now and June or do you think the price I've been given is the best it's going to be?

It's coming up at €1,252 for two adults staying at a hotel with breakfast, with flights, transfers and baggage.

I paid €989 for the same holiday I've just returned from and I booked *that* last February.

    You thought wrong.

For flights its around 90 days ahead of time.

For Package holidays its around the same with the possibility of a big saving for last minute (only if its a charter flight though)

Flights for major airlines can be booked up to 330 day in advance.
Low cost airlines are alot less & differ between each other.

Thread is concerned with finding the optimum time to book, as opposed to when inventory is made available.

Does anyone know where the best place is to go to get a cheap last minute package? Don't really care where we go
