Tax Traineeship

    Hi all

I could not find the answer to this question in previous threads, but if I simply missed it, I would appreciate a nudge in the right direction. Basically, I am a law graduate who finds tax quite interesting and I would consider a possible career in this field.

My question is: what does a tax traineeship at the big 4 actually entail? I despise accounting, so if I were to take the AITI route, would my job mostly consist of researching relevant tax law? How long does the traineeship last? What are others' experiences of it?

There is also a sticky on this in the forum.

I am a solicitor and a law graduate and a tax advisor so not an accountant background

I trained in a big four. Its the lottery of the department/ firm more so than the firm. Also tax trainees do not rotate in the big four so better off going outside them imo for a broader knowledge. They tend to pigeon hole people.

Corp tax suits accountants. Vat and stamp duty suit law heads

    Great career

Sounds good. If you don't mind me asking, did you get your solicitor traineeship after you have done the tax one?
