What about a jetta? Middle ground.

Early B6 passats aren't fantastic reliability wise.
Are you doing a lot of mileage?

All depends on what kind of driver you are. I know that my mum will almost refuse to drive my mondeo due to its sheer size, whereas I have no problem whatsoever alternating between lager and smaller cars, with respect to parking, length, width etc. My advice is if you want a passat then get one, you will adjust to the size and will learn how much room you need to leave. Get parking sensors if need be. Can one compare a 2003 bora with a B6 passat? I wouldn't have thought so...

Bora is just a Mk IV Golf with a boot while Jetta is a Mk V Golf with a boot.
