Notify DSP of Evening Course?

    Hi folks,

I'm currently claiming JSA but have just started an evening course in UCD - two evenings a week and Saturday mornings. I am still actively seeking, and available for full-time work. Do I need to notify the DSP that I've started this course?

    Thanks in advance!

If you are doing an evening course then you are still available and looking for work so it should not intefere with you jobseekers... if it was a daytime course that would be a different matter.

    Thanks. :)

    Any other opinions?

You need to inform them. UCD will inform them anyway, so it's easier to inform DSP now and save potential issues in the future. If its a part time course, then it will just be a box ticking exercise and won't affect your Jobseekers

Thanks, will give them a bell in the morning.

It sounds more like something that would be in the Part-time Category? How much roughly did the Course cost..... If they turned around and said they're changing the Saturday to a Friday or a different, that might mean you wouldn't be available for work then...... It might be best to inform them anyway.

Rang my local office this morning anyway. She just needed to know that it's a part-time evening course, the date it started, and if I paid for it myself or paid for by another agency like Fás or whoever. She didn't ask for specifics like where it is, actual hours etc.
