    Folks..
We're looking at a family saloon with good bootspace.. Mrs loves the Volvo V50. Which would people opt for, the 1.6Drive or the 2.0D, Honest John real MPG numbers for the 1.6Drive are good at 53mpg average. Have been looking at 2010's and not much price difference..

    Any experiences welcome..

I had the S40 with that 1.6d and found it sluggish, I'd go with the 2.0d if you can find one.

Looking at a number of 2010 with 100k maybe 120k miles.
These should be good for another 100k with proper servicing ??

Low milage diesels are near on impossible to find in Ireland.

Be aware that around that mileage the DPF will need to be changed on the 1.6d and its not cheap, somewhere around €750 if memory serves me.

So would the 2.0 be better long term value.

I would think so. Nicer drive, and a much livlier car too.
