Setting up a Home Gym

I am looking at setting up my own home gym as I am moving to a new town with very limited gym options and I will have a good bit of space in the new house.
I currently have yoga mats, bands, dumbells, pull up bar and a foam roller.
I need to get a squat rack, bench and 140kg of weights and perhaps some rubber flooring to protect the floor?
Where is the best place to get a deal on this equipment & how much will it cost me?

You could try Odin or try scouting around for deals on DoneDeal, Adverts etc.

Halfords have a good deal on the jigsaw pieces that go down on the floor:

They were two packs for €15 in Drogheda last time I was in. Bargain pricing for them. I have loads of them myself, with absolutely no use for more of them, and even I was tempted to buy more.

With regards to Olympic stuff, or any heavy weights in general, you're better off just buying new rather than scouring the place for second hand sets in my opinion. Used stuff is as expensive as new stuff in most cases. Been tempted to get an olympic bar and about 100-120kg or so of weight for ages, but never did, cos i cant justify the price and cant find anything too reasonable on sale anywhere (new or used).

    How thick are those mats?

No idea, but I have two different ones in my home 'gym' (if you could call it that). Ones were made for gymming, and i think were sold under the York logo, and the other ones i have that are there years, were sold under, possibly, the DeWalt branding (the power tools crowd).

They are both the same thickness, and the ones in Halfords looked to be the same exact product again. But I didn't inspect.

I'd guess about, give or take... an inch?

I recently put a gym into a large outdoor shed.

Got 4 18 mm Solid rubber Gym Mats from www.abbeylawn.net . These mats will stand up to serious abuse!

Bought a power cage, bench and 140 kg of weights from http://www.bmacstrength.co.uk. If you're buying a few items you should be able to get delivery charges refunded.

Bought Olympic bar and collars from www.d8fitness.com

I spent about €1400 in total and would recommend all the above suppliers.

This was a serious investment but worth every penny!
