Hula hooping

Hey guys, I've just ordered a weighted hula hoop (smooth & 1.3kg) & hula work out DVD & I'm just looking for some feedback on how others have got on with them so far. I understand healthy eating plays a big part but I'm specifically wondering about the toning & weight loss side of things. How often are people using them & also for what length of time? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Why did you decide to go with a hula hoop?

I wanted to try something different for fitness to incorporate into my normal workout (Gillian Michael's 30 day shred) but the more I've read about hula hooping (I tend to google the sh*t out of stuff before I try it/buy it :)) the more I started to notice that people are using it as a workout out on it's own. I've read a fair few reviews on how it helped tone & aid weight loss but because it's not as popular yet in Ireland as it would be in the US, I found most of the reviews were from websites selling/endorsing them & I'd like to get some feedback from real people who I know are giving their genuine opinion
