    2.05 Curragh

    Discussiontofollow 7/1

I firmly believe that Mike Murphy's improving 4 year old Discussiontofollow is a Listed/Group class sprinter in the making and, if navigating his way through this big field, will take a lot of beating tomorrow. On the back of an impressive win in a valuable race at Ascot back in July, Discussiontofollow ran a credible 6th in the very competitive Stewards Cup on his last start (was slightly hampered by winner which may have cost him a place or 2) but both his trainer and I don't think he ran up to his best that day. From the trainer's site, it appears that Shane Kelly got off the last day saying he just didn't show the same turn of foot at the end of his race which could well have been down to having his 3rd race in 5 weeks and I think the yard have definitely done the right thing in giving him a 6 week break to freshen him up. Having already ran really well at The Curragh 3 starts back when an unlucky enough 3rd in a similar contest and he looks to have bagged a very nice draw in stall 20 owing to the track's bias on the track. With conditions to suit, the trainer in very decent form, and off a mark of 98 which I think he is more than capable of winning off, I'm very confident of a big performance from this son of Elusive City and if putting his best foot forward it's going to take a well handicapped horse to beat him.

Looking forward to seeing Cursory Glance stepping up to 7 furlongs in the Moyglare. She should be a lot better for the extra trip.

    Best of luck.

I am cute on Liberty Jack. Great e/w punt at 16/1 and 4 places.

Just took a 2k bet on 11 Tatlisu

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Peintre Celebre

I started a thread on National Service a while back and still have him down as a max bet when he steps up to six on quick ground but they keep persisting at 5. I really think he's ahead of his mark but needs his conditions

He does go in the first at Bath. It's firm ground there today and it is a stiff course which may help. I'm just not emptying the satchel yet. His last run was clearly too bad to be true

He's very weak I thought that they would get really stuck into him when it's time, but I don't think they can really trust the horse

Chiquita ran a lovely race there. Should put her spot on for her next assignment.

Yet another new arc fav after that

    very disappointing treve

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Peintre Celebre

They might be tempted to try Chicquita in the Arc given it's so open

25/1 with Paddy Power for the Arc.

Will Eagle Top run in the Arc? Currently 25/1. I think this horse would love a bit of juice in the ground.

If he were to get the same ground he got yesterday I'd say he's a player in the Arc. but with him just returning from an injury it wouldn't be wise to risk him with to much moisture in the ground.

I think after that race Treves team should be a bit more realistic and point toward the De l'Opera

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Frankie will be a happy man today. Treve gets beat, and he's just ridden Ruler Of The World to win the Prix Foy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

cant make out the treve ride at all
jockey never got serious on her at all, very gentle ride maybe with the arc
in mind possibly or is it just the horse not being as good as last year?
hope she goes for the arc

wouldnt have been a backer at the price regardless myself though did back
    the third horse ew

Could be a horse to watch. Arc winners have been by and large horses who have light seasons.

Worst case of pace making ever!!!

Someone commented on Ballydoyle's checkered history in p/making yesterday but that was something else.

Hate to be critical but JOB riding a out and out stayer like that against a horse who he would have known travelled best at Ascot was suicidal. Over-confidence at its worst.

I like Chicago ew in the last. 5.50

Shekhzayeroad runs at woodbine later (8.32) 9/2 with pp
    plenty of 11/4+3s elsewhere
surely an ew bet to nothing

I am not sure it's over-confidence. To me, it just looks like he struggles to judge the pace of a race.

    very bad judgement indeed

Think it's a combination of both. Here's his comments re Leading Light from 2days ago:

    ""
He idled in front that day but always does and won nicely. Ground or trip is not a massive problem for him.
"He is an uncomplicated horse and I can ride him handy or take my time and that makes my job very easy."

The above is all well and good but he showed a complete lack of respect to a fine horse in Brown Panther, treating him like a Ballydoyle pacemaker. Won't get the same coverage but Id rate it a much worse ride than one given to Australia.

Fantastic call. Remembered the Sheikh winning nicely at York during the summer and followed you in. Thanks. Superb ride from Lane.

stable also have trade storm running later (23.13)
plenty of 5s around (lads only 7/2)
you would think based on his overall form he should be very competitive including an excellent run lto where it looked all over the winner before going down a neck to custom cut
spencer doing the steering this time

Sorry to all for dragging up an old thread.
I'm testing my new found skill (hopefully) at posting pictures.

This is a photo I took of Cursory Glance at The Curragh on 14/09/14 as she went to post before winning the Moyglare Stud Stakes.
