I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend next year and I'm looking to treat her to a night in the clarence penthouse or Roxford lodge exec suite . There is a big difference in price but the clarence penthouse looks amazing :) has anybody stayed in either

Didn't you decide to save the money for better things - like saving for a deposit so you can finally move in together?? There's no need for an extravagant proposal, particularly when money is tight.

Hi,both seem nice (sorry, I will be able to offer my review after 20 posts :) but I am more in favor of vintage style castle-hotel type of places for such a romantic night.

Ok thanks for your reply but it's irrelevant to the post.

Is the hot tub in the clarence outside on the balcony? That's something you might want to consider, particularly if you're planning to propose on valentine's day - you'd be freezing!

Personally, going by photos alone, I'd go for the roxford. To me it just looks nicer, but that's personal preference. What would really swing it for me is the price - valentine's night in the Clarence is approx €1400!!! If you did it a few days before/after valentine's, you're still looking at upwards of €800 not including breakfast. The Roxford is €180 including breakfast.

My sister stayed in the Clarence earlier in the year (not in the penthouse, in one of the other suites) and said that while it was nice, it was nothing special. Her stay was work related so she wasn't paying herself, but when she found out how much the room cost she said that there was no way she'd have paid that to stay there. She also said the likes of the mini bar and room service were also very expensive.

Yep Clarence is expensive for what you get. Don't know the other place but id say go for that!
