What options does someone have if they have a trip booked for the same week exams are on. Trip was booked long before course was even applied for.

You can apply to resit under extenuating /compassionate circumstances. It is up to the college if they will accommodate you. Can you not change the dates of the holiday?

As in if a family member died, or you were so ill you had to have surgery etc.

Don't think a holiday comes under that :P.

Not a chance will they let you take them at a different time because of a holiday :P.

Exams are in December. Not a chance of changing holiday dates. Flights and hotel all booked ourselves and fully paid for.
Tutor said speak to him again and they should sort something out so fingers crossed.

It really does depend on the college. The bigger ones will have a few sittings and it should be straight forward enough to sit at another date. With smaller colleges it may be more difficult. Good luck.

Thanks. It's a small enough college so here's hoping. Will lose out on a good bit of money if we can't go. Not to mention 4 extremely disappointed kids!

Same option as you have for the Leaving Cert. None. They are state exams.

Not all colleges would allow resits. Our college doesn't. It is not logistically possible, because of teacher availability, etc.

The exams are not State exams. You should speak to the course coordinator again, see how much the exams are worth as they are unlikely to be a 100% of the programme/module. If no luck ask to see the College's policy on Late Submission/Repeats etc.

They are state exams in so far as they give you a qualification at the same level as LC, and in ETB, teachers are paid to correct them.

The bottom line, anyway, is that it's down to individual colleges.
