    Looking to get overshoes...
Are there different ones?..ie waterproof versus windproof?
Ive gotten soaked through a few times which is OK in warmer weather but dont fancy it in the winter.

Are the lidl/Aldi ones any good?(have a pair somewhere that were never used!)
    Cheers,
    Marty.

I've got a few different sets.

Cheap Decathlon neoprene overshoes - pretty good at keeping most wind/water out but the sole isn't covered. Probably similar to the Aldi/Lidl ones I'd imagine
Castelli Toe Thingy - neoprene toe cover. Stops the chill in your toes on windy days, keeps out spray off a wet road. Good for if your shoe has a toe vent on the sole
Castelli Belgian Booties - More for wind than rain. Bought them for the current weather (and to stop my new shoes getting dirty :) )

Save your money. Met Eireann this morning said that there is absolutely NO rain whatsoever forecast for the future as far into the future as they can see.

in pouring rain it will come in the top and in the bottoms no matter what you buy.
BBB neoprene boot covers and merino/Sealskinz socks will help in the depths of winter along with bigger shoes

If I was to offer some serious, actual advice, it would be to get a couple of pairs. Especially if you have big feet and subsequently big shoes. They tend not to last long. The stretchy ones are hard to get on and there are so many edges sticking out of cycling shoes - ratchets and cleats and heels etc, that they tend to rip eventually on me.
Best to get a pair with a zip too in that case.

They are worth it though, as much to protect your shoes as your feet. Cycling shoes are bloody dear enough, I'd rather replace 25 quid covers than 250 quid shoes.

Cheers all... I'll pull out the aldi ones so and go from there... See where they excel/fall down and then replace!

I had a quick look online and none I saw actually say water proof, all just wind and dust?!
    Cheers
    Marty.

Just about to pull the trigger on BBB Water Flex, will let you know how they work... hopefully don't have to use them for a little while. :)

Used these for 1st time this evening, raining pretty heavily in Dublin. After ~35 minutes, feet were bone dry. Also had sks raceblades on front and back so they helped too.

I use BBB heavy duty OSS must of the time. Won't keep you bone dry but definitely warm and I have got 3 years or of them and still good to go .€25 in chain reaction at the moment
I also use PRO shimano Tarmac in warmer weather and find them excellent for keeping your feet dry.
