HRV System with Solid Fuel Range

    Hello,

We are starting to build our house. We want to heat the house using a solid fuel range with radiators and to have an oil boiler as backup. We are also planning to have an airtight house with a HRV system. A few people have told me that I cannot have a solid fuel range with an airtight house. Is this correct?

We have access to loads of firewood and turf as very little cost, that is why we want to go the solid fuel route. If would definitely be the cheapest method for us to heat our house.

I know you can get stoves with an external air supply but we really want a range not a stove. Plus I can't imagine we'd get a stove strong enough to heat our whole house.

Any advice would be very welcome!
