Can I offer a very mild criticism?

I don't do much street photography but I tend to view quite a lot of it, and one thing I see quite often, and which I think lets the photos down, is partly or completely obscured faces.

I know these kind of candids are difficult for a photographer, because you don't want to intrude on the moment (or get abuse from a camera-shy subject), so sometimes it's easier to shoot people when they're looking away or have their backs to you, but speaking purely as a viewer I always find it disappointing when I can't see the subjects' faces.

I like them - there's great light and liveliness to them :)

Can I ask about your conversion to mono - really nicely done - contrasty but not too black. I find my b/w work is often very grey..

Nice to see you posting them up!

Would people stop saying this ? What's wrong with starting a thread with a bunch of shots if you want to ? Isn't this a photography forum ??

Well, the random photo thread is one or two images per post..
    * Try keep to one or two images per post. Then allow some more people to post, then feel free to post again. Do this as often as you like!
..and this is a series which is best viewed as it has been posted. It also allows for conversation, which is discouraged in the random photo thread.

Sorry for going off topic OP - but I would encourage these posts. Great to see what people are up to and allow for questions/feedback.

I use Lightroom to process and I have a very simple rule - blacks are black and whites are white so the histogram is used to ensure I get that. However, MissusP&B has a different view and she produces grey B&W's which I don't like. Makes for fun times when we're editing.....:)

I hear you and fully agree. Unfortunately it isn't always possible and in this case these were all shot in the space of a couple of hours. It was only when I got them home and looked at the whole card that I realised I had a bit of a theme with the couples - hence this set. There is actually one other shot but it didn't work well in B&W as it was shot in low light indoors, therefore I left it out. Again the faces are obscured though.

Appreciate your input and always glad of other peoples opinions.

Not as much feedback I'd imagine, how much does it cost again to open a new thread ?
