I applied for a replacement licence today in my local NDLS centre as I lost my own. On the receipt I received it mentions the Permit Type is "Learner Permit"

I'm assuming Im not going to be send out a Learner Permit or something? It was a full licence I lost......

    Anyone seen this before?

I presume you didn't look at receipt when given to you / asked them in person why it states that? You could always have gone back into them to ask them to correct this?!

If stopped and asked to produce licence you'll have this receipt now that says 'Learner' and you may not have someone in the car with you.

Can you go back in and ask them to amend this for you and perhaps stamp it saying amended by them in the NDLS centre?

Just a suggestion in the event you are stopped & asked to produce licence,
You could be waiting weeks for actual to arrive in the post, pending NDLS centre involved,

No, I just assumed it was a receipt for the payment and didnt look at it til I got home. (20 miles away!)

I have emailed them about it and am awaiting reply. I can't believe they would have processed it as a learner permit. The guy at the counter even told me that my old licence stipulated that I wear glasses, he must have known it was Full.

They might process it faster for you now with this error though. If not, if anything happens with a member of An Garda Síochána and your licence while you are waiting, have you a contact name there or even something to prove your full licence?

Did you photocopy your full licence ever in the past and keep a copy safe anywhere?

    Thanks,

I do yes. I happened to note the guys name at the counter. His operator ID is on the receipt too.

Yes, I did make a colour copy of my licence, have it on the pc here. Good thinking - thanks!

Update - Returned to the NDLS centre, the man at the counter thought it was possibly a mistake alright and checked to see which licence was sent out. Turns out it was the full licence. The only reason "Learner Permit" showed up on the receipt was because the guy didnt select the right option from a drop down list. It has no bearing on what licence is processed though.
