    Hi all,

In same room as router I am noticing big differences between wifi and wired speeds!

    Wired: 48 mb down
    Wireless: 12 mb down

Changed wifi channel on router, uploaded Eircom's latest firmware.

    Just sh*tty wifi routers??

Remember of course that there are two ends to the wifi connection so the sh*tty part may not be the F1000 end.

I've got the F1000 and the best speedtests I've done from wired with my laptop and wireless with PC in room upstairs from router are:

    Wired: 96Mb/19Mb

    Wireless: 90Mb/19Mb

more often the wireless is in the 60-70Mb range but there are many other devices in the house (all wireless) that can chew up the bandwidth.

What speed is the wireless device syncing to the F1000 at? In the nicest figures above that sync speed for me is 144Mb/s.

Not the wifi at the receiving end - all 7 devices I've tried can't be wrong.

How can I read the speed to F1000?

All it takes is ONE legacy device and ALL your devices will operate at its speed. Set the F1000 to N mode only and see what happens ;)

Set on N mode only ...

Slightly better ... Approx 25mb down
    Wired still .......... 47mb down

Thats a bit low for wireless, but not unheard of. Wired will pretty much always be faster, thats the nature of the beast.

Buy a high speed access point if you want, but itll be dependent on your devices being able to keep up.
