Looking at buying a second hand car and have spotted a 2010 Diesel Focus that's in excellent condition. The catch is the mileage - 120000 Miles (Not KM). Seems like its been well drive in 4 years. It's priced for the mileage to be fair, but I'm just wondering if this thing is going to cost me an arm and a leg in maintenance because of the high mileage.
Car will primarily be used for about the town, and for the odd 1-2 hour journey.
    Any advice appreciated.

If it is primarily being used about town then why are you looking at a diesel at all?

Your better off with petrol for town driving, trust me. Besides you'll destroy a diesel car in the long run if your only out on short trips.

Fair enough on the diesel/petrol. There'll be the odd journey 2+ hours, but that'll be the exception. So fuel aside, is there any basic things I should expect be replacing in the first 2 years with the mileage above?
The timing belt seems a given if it hasn't been replaced already. Just wondering if the Fords are specifically prone to issues.

Depends on the history of the car, at that mileage either things like the flywheel/clutch could have already been replaced or may need to be in the not too distant future. Ditto with the turbo or particle filter.

With your style of driving imo a hybrid like a Prius or Civic IMA might be more suitable and less likely to break on you. If you still do want a diesel then maybe something with the older 1.9 TDi from VAG is a safer bet.

Not set on diesel based on driving patterns as suggested above. Will look into Civic petrol.
